Want the details? Here's how your first visit will go
We’ll check every single tooth
Plus your gums, tongue and cheeks. Healthy teeth depend on a healthy mouth. Your dentist will check all of the structures and surfaces in your mouth for cavities, gum disease, infections and other possible health problems.
We’ll clean above and below your gums
Your hygienist or dentist will clean along and below the gum line with an ultra-sonic tool or a dental scraper to remove built-up plaque and tartar. Once all the tartar and plaque are gone, they will polish and floss your teeth.
We’ll take X-Rays, too
If you haven’t had X-Rays recently, the dentist will order a set of your entire mouth. X-Rays reveal problems that the dentist can’t see just by looking. Things like cracked teeth, infections, cavities and decay between teeth, even life-threatening illnesses like tumors and oral cancers are often first discovered from an X-Ray.
We’ll talk about your oral health
We’ll make sure you know the basics of brushing and flossing and tell you if there are any problems, like a cavity or signs of gum disease. If you need specialized care, we’ll explain why and tell you all of your options.
We’ll make a plan
If your teeth are healthy, great! We’ll send you home with a plan for taking care of them and an appointment for a return visit in six months. If you need additional procedures or treatment we’ll help you plan for what you need, including affordable financing from Western Dental.
